Solvent-Borne PU Adhesive Viscosity Test Method

Step One:
Prepare a sample with 45 grams of TPU and 255 grams of MEK.
 
Step Two:
Slowly add the TPU to the MEK while continuously mixing.
 
Step Three:
After mixing for 4 hours, ensure the TPU pellets are completely dissolved in the MEK to form a uniform adhesive solution.
 
Step Four:
Place the solution in a 25℃ incubator for at least 12 hours.
 
Step Five:
Test the solution's viscosity using a viscometer:
Ensure the correct rotor is used for the viscosity range.
Place the rotor at a fixed height in the center of the solution container.
Allow the rotor to spin for 60 seconds.
Record the viscosity reading displayed on the viscometer for later calculation.
 

PU Adhesives Bonding Strength Test Method

Step One:
Prepare 30×6 cm PVC test pieces and mark a red line 2.5 cm from both ends.
 
Step Two:
Clean the test pieces with MEK and dry them in a 60℃ oven for 60 seconds.
 
Step Three:
Brush a layer of TPU adhesive between the red lines and activate the adhesive by heating in a 60℃ oven for 6 minutes.
 
Step Four:
Bond the test pieces together. Cut the bonded piece into two 2.5×30 cm test strips. Test one strip for initial bonding strength after 6 minutes and the other for final bonding strength after 72 hours.
 
Step Five:
Test the bonding strength using a tensile machine:
Secure the un-bonded part of the test strips with the machine's fixtures and peel off 1 cm initially.
Continue peeling the test strips until 1 cm of the bonded section remains.
Record the bonding strength results using tensile testing software, which measures the force needed to separate the bonded test strips.
 

PU Adhesives Heat Resistance Test Method

Step One:
Prepare 2.5×8 cm T/C cloth test pieces.
 
Step Two:
Apply adhesive evenly to the test pieces twice, then activate the adhesive in a 60℃ oven for 6 minutes.
 
Step Three:
Press and bond the test pieces together, applying pressure for 24 hours. Mark lines at 0.5 cm intervals from 0.5 cm to 2.5 cm.
 
Step Four:
Hang the test pieces with a 500-gram weight in the oven and gradually increase the temperature. Record the temperature when the adhesive bond begins to fail and the pieces start peeling at the marked lines. This indicates the temperature range at which the adhesive's bonding strength weakens.
